Coming to Ireland for a visit and you don't know where to start? I suggest you rent a car!

Did you know? - Ireland is 110 times smaller than Australia. Tasmania measures 68,332 square kilometres and is about the same size as Ireland. To walk the middle of Ireland on the entire Beara Breifne Way - 1000 km hiking trail takes around 40 days or to cycle it's about 2 weeks.

Try to avoid motorways. Ireland is here to be discovered on it's back roads with quaint towns, pubs, spectacular scenery and traditional music that gets your foot tapping.

You will probably arrive in Dublin. Let's start with my list of arty places to visit in Dublin.

National Collection of modern and contemporary art

Photo Museum Ireland The national centre for contemporary photography

For lunchtime drama, doors open 12.50pm

Trinity College is free to visit, but you will have to pay for a chance to see the famous Celtic epic "The Book of Kells," which is on display at the college's Old Library.

Explore Dublin's Phoenix Park and visit the Irish Feltmakers Sunday session for some hands on creative craic.

Then take your time and head over to the west coast and Wild Atlantic Way!
